The publication contains description of 28 projects implemented by members of Ukrainian Rivers Network in the framework of the Small Grants Programme. Key elements, contributing to the success of the Programme were practical activities in river conversation, involving young people and children; increasing the awareness of the local population; publishing and disseminating informative materials, and co-operating with local authorities.

The African Manatee is a member of the Trichechidae; a sirenian, mermaid-like sea cow that can grow up to 3 meters and weigh 500 kilograms. Wetlands International is calling for tougher protection measures to ensure the survival of this endangered species.
