The best practise guidelines aim to provide the reader with appropriate knowledge and understanding over the different aspects of mangrove silviculture (planting) for coastal protection. The guidelines include Identification of sites for mangrove cultivation, mangrove plant species for cultivation, identification of common mangrove plants, knowledge useful for mangrove cultivation, selection of mangrove plants for cultivation, mangrove seeds and planting material, mangrove plant nurseries – Site preparation, nursery plantation, mangrove planting/ transplanting techniques, after-care operations and community based strategies for mangrove restoration
